Judge Richard Posner To Outline Impact Of Intellectual Property Transactions On U.S. and Global Economies

CHICAGO, April 13 - Our nation's recent explosion of technological, electronic and medical advances have made intellectual property the largest and fastest growing part of the U.S. economy, according to Richard A. Posner, Chief Judge for the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and Senior Lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School.

Judge Posner, a nationally renowned thought leader and expert on the economic structure of law, will outline the true economic impact of intellectual property transactions on our economy and discuss antitrust concerns with several hundred business, legal and academic leaders attending the LES Foundation's Annual Dinner at the Four Seasons Hotel.

"Judge Posner is a pioneer who is helping to build a legal infrastructure to deal with the complex challenges we face as our country's wealth of intellectual property continues to grows in size and economic importance," said Dr. Richard Razgaitis, President of the LES Foundation's Board of Directors. "Our ability to harness and manage our inventory of intellectual property will determine how well we can compete in the global marketplace in the years to come."

The Annual LES Foundation Dinner is designed to provide a unique forum where professionals in licensing and related fields can hear cutting edge perspectives and ask tough questions of industry leaders.

"Each year we invite a speaker who is thought-provoking and, in some cases, controversial in an effort to stimulate a dynamic exchange of ideas and an open debate of pivotal industry issues," said Ada Nielsen, Vice President of the LES Foundation's Board of Directors and Chair of the Licensing Dinner.

Established in 2000 by the Licensing Executives Society, the LES Foundation, is a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to helping professionals who work with intellectual property stay current in an industry that is encountering dramatic growth and change. The Foundation works to enhance networking, professional development and educational opportunities for its members as well as to serve as an information resource through a variety of programs and outreach.
